A message from the staff of
Operation Home Delivery
(June 2006)
Volunteers still needed for Gulf Coast building
Operation Home Delivery has been making great progress over the last
several months. Currently, 220 homes are under construction and nearly
80 have been completed along the Gulf Coast. There is much more to build
and the number of available volunteers is beginning to run short.
Please put the word out to local volunteers and corporate and church
groups that the need for volunteers continues in hurricane affected
areas.
To organize a group of volunteers from your affiliate, please contact
the Operation Home Delivery volunteer
coordinators or 800-422-4828, ext.
2183.
Please also encourage individuals to sign up as an Operation Home
Delivery volunteer by going to the Habitat website at
www.habitat.org/disaster/OHD/default.aspx.
Select the volunteer option and complete the information.
There is much more work to do for many, many months to come along the
Gulf Coast. Please encourage your local volunteers to sign up for
Operation Home Delivery. You might consider e-mailing your volunteers
and including the request in your local newsletter.
Thank you for your continued support of this effort.
Please see the locations and volunteer needs below. We ask volunteers to
provide at least one week of service.
Thibodaux, La.
250 volunteers a week until September 2006

As Habitat affiliates along the Gulf Coast and in the
affected areas have worked to get back up to speed and as more and more
construction plans have been finalized, home construction has steadily
increased. As of February 1, 2006, there are 106 houses under
construction in all four hurricane-affected states!
To have more than 100 homes under construction is certainly a milestone
to celebrate. The Operation Home Delivery (OHD) management office
congratulates all of the affiliates for their hard work and appreciates
the help and support of our entire affiliate family, corporate partners,
donors and volunteers who have helped make this possible. It is a true
testament to our resilience as an organization and to the dedicated
people who make this their life’s work.
Every person has a story. Habitat homeowners, Habitat volunteers and
Habitat staff members alike have been affected by the hurricanes in the
Gulf Coast. We invite you to share their stories.
